About RAF - Air Defence Radar Museum

Air Defence Radar Museum (ADRM)

Air defence radar operations began at RAF Neatishead in 1942 and continued until 2004 when RAF Neatishead ceased to house Radars and became Remote Radar Head (RRH) Neatishead. RRH Neatishead still supplies engineering support to the Air Defence radar at Trimingham as well as providing Ground-to-Air communications.

The Museum hosts over 1000 children a year with their Families. School Groups are also catered for and it is a pleasure telling the next generation about Radar. However, due to the layout of the Museum, it is not really suitable for Playgroup outings or other similar events involving large numbers of younger children without prior notification. If you would like to bring a group of children on an outing, do contact the Museum first so we can arrange a suitable programme for their visit ahead of time.

Opening Times

The Museum is staffed by Volunteers and is only open at certain times.

The Museum is open as follows:

Tuesdays, Thursdays and Bank Holiday Mondays, April to October inclusive.

We also open on the second Saturday of each month – all year round.

Opening times are from 1000-1700 (last entrance for guided tour is 1500).

Tour Times

The Guided Tours run every half hour from 1030 with the last Tour at 1500. The Tour lasts for 1 hr 30 minutes and is well worth joining as it puts the history of Air Defence into context at the very start of your visit.

Gift Aid

The Museum operates the Gift Aid scheme. You will be invited to complete a simple Gift Aid form when you enter the Museum.

This will entitle you to FREE re-entry to the Museum over the next 12 months. Please do consider the scheme as it is a great help!

An award winning, volunteer run, visitor attraction and Museum, it offers an enjoyable and informative day out to all visitors. Housed in the original Grade II* listed 1942 radar operations building, the Museum, in addition to the Exhibition spaces, offers the Visitor a wide range of facilities.

The Museum covers a considerable area (don’t be fooled when you first drive in – we don’t use the phrase “It’s bigger than you think” lightly)! As well as 20 exhibition areas and some outside exhibits, a visit to the

Museum includes access to/use of:
