Bergh Apton Sculpture Trail 2011 - The Journey

The sixth Bergh Apton Sculpture Trail takes place over three weekends from 21st May to 5th June. The 2011 event features over two hundred works of sculpture by sixty five artists. Sculptures are displayed largely in rarely accessible private gardens linked by footpaths, bridleways and lanes.The theme for this years Trail is 'The Journey' which centres around the skills and crafts required in the construction of a mediaeval church. This theme is depicted by both the sculptors who have been asked to represent connections and continuity with mediaeval life and by over twenty live heritage skills displays, including, heraldic art, calligraphy, stained glass making and falconry. There is an open air music programme and a mystery play(in the mediaeval tradition written and narrated by renowned storyteller Hugh Lupton. The trail is open from 10.30am to 6pm daily. Admission is £10 per day, or £15 fopr a two day pass. Children under 16 are free. For more information visit www.berghapton.org.uk.
