The House of Bernarda Alba

The House of Bernarda Alba

The House of Bernarda Alba

Thursday 2nd - Saturday 4th April 2015, 7.30pm
in a new English version by David Hare
Lorca’s last play, written two months before his death in 1936 during the Spanish Civil War, centres on the events in a house in Andalusía during a period of mourning.
It follows the lives of five daughters of the monstrous matriarch Bernarda Alba as they contemplate eight years of trapped mourning for their father and, with it, the loss of the dreams they have of love or sex. Passions and tensions mount as the drama unfolds towards its tragic conclusion. David Hare’s vibrant new version was written for the National Theatre in 2005.
This performance takes place at The Garage. Age 12+
