Sutton Staithe Boatyard - Picnic and Day Boat Hire

Sutton Staithe Boatyard is a small and friendly boat yard situated at the end of Sutton Broad.

We offer environmentally friendly electric day launches and traditional diesel day boats. Our heated day boats are available all year round, and come with life jackets, tuition, safety instruction and fuel included in the price. (we also have free parking).

Picnic Boat Hire

We are pleased to offer 8 and 12 seater Electric Picnic Boats. Each has a gas hob, toilet and sink. Perfect to have a self contained day out with family. We supply life jackets, full instructions, a map and some ideas where to explore. Prices for the 12 seater are from £135 for 4 hours hire off peak. £165 for 4 hours peak season - all boats available for a full day hire.

Prices for the 8 seater picnic boat are from £95 for 4 hours hire low season and £140 for 4 hours hire high season and all boats available for full day hire

Day Boat Hire

Prices start from £75 for 4 hours hire off season. £85.00 for 4 hours peak season 

The broad is now owned by the RSPB and is a very important wetland habitat and is a wonderfully quiet and picturesque place from which to start your trip, or to stop and enjoy bird watching or fishing.  The boatyard is only a 40 minute trip from the the open waters of Barton Broad, from here you can carry on down the River Ant passing How Hill nature reserve, with ample mooring it's a lovely place for a picnic.

Then on to Ludham Bridge and beyond to the River Bure where if your having a full day on board you could visit Horning with its lovely riverside properties and pubs, or visit South Walsham Broad or Ranworth Broad, the latter has a riverside pub and a church tower that, for those of you with a head for heights you can climb to the top of the tower.

If your plan is for a shorter trip then you can head up the River Ant to the quieter waters of Wayford and Dilham, passing the famous Hunset Mill, or call in at the Museum of the Broads at Stalham.

Canoes and Kayaks also available £30.00 for 3 hrs or £45.00 for 6 hours
