“Immaculate and peaceful Lodge suitable for disabled person” Reviewed 29 Jun 2016
I took my Mother, who walks with a frame, on holiday to this property. It is exactly as described in the literature - but even smarter than we expected. Access into the property, the ground floor and the decking area are all easy to reach for a disabled person. The downstairs shower room is well fitted out for a disabled person. The Lodge is immaculately clean, with everything you could need in the kitchen. 2 of the bedrooms are enormous, and the third bedroom is a reasonable size. There was a basket with food treats to welcome us and the owners were helpful. The enclosed lawned garden area accessed from the living area is very private and a haven for wildlife - we saw 2 varieties of Woodpeckers and a Muntjac deer in the garden. There is easy access to many tourist attractions within a short drive of the Lodge. I would definitely recommend a stay in this property.
“Lovely holiday home” Reviewed 27 Jun 2016
We stayed at the lodge for a week with two very young children, and had a great time. The property is new and was spotless when we arrived - cleaned to a very high standard. The facilities were great and just what we needed for our holiday. The location was great for the coast and Norwich. Our hosts provided a very welcoming hamper upon arrival with homemade bread, wine, local jam, butter, biscuits, eggs and milk! We shall definitely be returning again in the future - thank you. The only comment I have is there was not a highchair as listed so we brought our own with us.

We visited with children and a disabled grandparent so we could visit family around the North Norfolk area. The facilities were perfect - walk in shower with seat, disabled toilet, large ground-floor bedroom, washing machine, dishwasher, TVs in every bedroom. The whole place was spotlessly clean throughout and bedding, towels, tea towels and a lovely welcome basket were included. We could not have asked for more.

Lovely property in excellent location for touring out to coast and surrounding area. An added bonus on arrival was the welcome basket with homemade bread and provisions left by owners. Property was very clean and in excellent condition and ground floor bedroom and wet room was ideal for my elderly father. All in all an enjoyable holiday in a quiet location but not far from shops.

We found the lodge was in a perfect location for visiting the Norfolk coast and other places of interest. We would definitely recommend this property to anyone looking to visit Norfolk and look forward to returning ourselves in the future. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The property is spacious, clean and modern. We received a warm welcome . There is plenty to do in the area and would definately recommend it to anyone wanting a holiday in Norfolk.
9 Aug 2015 "Relaxing retreat."
We would highly recommend this super, high quality accommodation in the village of Honing. The relaxing modern, clean lodge had the best disabled facilities we have yet tried in Norfolk and the welcome basket including wine and essentials was a kind touch after our long journey. Nothing was too much trouble for the owners and Martin was a great source of useful local information. We will certainly be returning.
5 Aug 2015 "Keep on knocking!"
We thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay at Woodpecker Lodge. Very spacious bright and airy. This was a very well kept cottage that the owners should be rightly proud to present to visitors. In a great location quiet and restful but within easy travelling of every attraction the area has to offer. I am sure every visitor will enjoy a great holiday.
5 Jul 2015 "Superbly designed accommodation in a peaceful setting"
Really enjoyed our first visit to Norfolk and a pleasure to stay in this lovely Lodge. The Lodge itself is a very well designed layout, maximising the light and enabling all rooms to be a very good size without the footprint of the building being too big. The owners live adjacent to the lodge and made us very welcome with a basket of local produce and some ideas of where we might like to visit. The local pub is about a mile away along the lane and there were lots of other really nice pubs in almost every village, a rare experience these days. Within half a mile of the lodge is access to the Weavers Way - a delightfully quiet old railway path for walking or cycling along to spot local wildlife. We thoroughly explored the area, Sheringham, Mundesley, Wroxham and Cromer were very nice to visit and we also had a 'picnic' boat out on the Broads which we rented from a yard at Potter Heigham. All beaches were extremely clean and unspoilt, Happisburgh beach, by the Smallsticks cafe, was probably our favourite. We did try local fish & chips at Sheringham but were hugely disappointed - it wasn't until the last night we found the lovely 'Smallsticks Cafe' near Happisburgh, great afternoon teas and a very nice looking fish and chips (only served later in the week). Would thoroughly recommend Woodpecker Lodge to anyone wishing to explore this area despite it being in an actual quiet location, everywhere - retail, beaches and attractions are a short distance away.

30 May 2015 5/5 "Holidays with friends"
Just returned from a fantastic relaxing holiday. The owners were very welcoming and the accommodation was first class. The lodge is very modern and accommodated our party of five adults extremely well. There is sufficient parking for at least three cars. The village of Honing is very quiet but close enough to other busy villages and towns in the area. We would strongly advise people to give this lovely retreat a try!!
7 Apr 2015 5/5 "Woodpecker Lodge"
My husband and disabled mother stayed at Woodpecker Lodge over this Easter weekend. i was stunned at the excellent accommodation with everything of the highest quality and standards. The disabled downstairs bedroom and wet room was ideal for my mom and with wide doors if wheelchair access is required. We also received a "Welcome Basket" from the owners who met us on arrival and were very friendly and kindly showed us a£round the property. They also took the time to leave a few essentials in the fridge for us to be getting on with which was also a generous touch I would recommend this accommodation to anyone wanting to stay in an high standard of accommodation which was very comfortable, excellent standard of cleanliness and in a quiet location. Thank you for a wonderful stay
29th December 2014 "Christmas House! "
We stayed here over Christmas with 3 generations of family, and it was a wonderful choice. The house is as new, with a lovely view out on to a deck and lawn (where we saw a deer one morning!) and everything we needed was here. Extra thanks for the Christmas tree! Highly recommended.
"Absolutely first class!"
Booked a long weekend at Woodpecker Lodge as wanted to treat my wife & daughter to something special and this ticked all the boxes, and we were not disappointed. The lodge is absolutely fantastic, high spec, spotless, spacious and everything is brand new. The downstairs bedroom is huge, easily accessible for wheelchair users and boasts gorgeous solid wood furniture, large flat screen tv & windows on two aspects. The bedroom had been prepared to beautiful standard with lovely white towels presented on the duvet for my wife and I, this negating any requirement to bring your own. The bed was so comfortable too, something I am particularly fussy about when away from home, we both slept really well. The downstairs bathroom compliments the bedroom, also huge with a walk in shower. Martin Jarvis (the owner) has spared no expense on this property, it is truly 5 star rating in my book. The kitchen/living area is fantastic, well equipped for every need with dishwasher, fridge/freezer, 4 ring electric oven, again all brand new, a kitchen any home would be proud to have. Mrs Jarvis had also placed a welcome basket in readiness for our arrival, which contained a large jar of jam, choc biscuits, tea bags, coffee, bread....too many items to remember to be honest but it was a lovely gesture and one they present on every booking I expect. The fridge was also stocked with milk so there is no need to rush out for anything, you can arrive and relax immediately. Both upstairs bedrooms mirror the downstairs, beautifully presented & immaculate in every detail with yet another bathroom with a bath. The property itself has been built next to the Jarvis's own house. It is detached with its own garden at the rear, which can be accessed via a side gate or the double patio doors which lead onto the decking from the living area. The garden is lawned with small conifer trees to give privacy on 2 sides, the third being brick & fencing to give further privacy. You are able to park your car right outside the property where there is a pathway leading to the front door. In summary, this is a gorgeous new build property which will spoil even the most seasoned holidaymakers. The quite location off a country lane is perfect for that relaxing break, we heard no noise whatsoever during our stay. Great for exploring nearby Cromer & Great Yarmouth, we particularly enjoyed Cromer with its pier and crab fishing.
Many thanks to the Jarvis's, you have a beautiful property and we would definitely stay at Woodpecker Lodge again.
9 Sep 2014 5/5 "A beautiful holiday home."
We stayed at woodpecker lodge whilst visiting family in Norfolk. On arrival we were greeted by the owner and shown around the cottage and presented with a beautiful welcome basket of edible treats to help us settle in. This was such a thoughtful and personal touch.
The cottage itself is beautifully decorated with high quality modern fittings and designed with guests in mind. The open plan kitchen and living area is light and spacious. The kitchen is well equipt and bedrooms have plenty of storage space. The lovely secluded garden is a bonus with a decked area, outdoor seating and a barbecue to use in good weather. We loved watching the wild birds on the bird feeder also, but didn't manage to see the woodpecker after whom the cottage is named! My husband, myself and our two guinea pigs had a thoroughly enjoyable stay at what must be one of the best cottages we have rented!
26 Aug 2014 5/5 "Stunning Holiday Home"
We are a family of 4 with two young children 3 and 5 years. Woodpecker lodge is accommodation of the highest standard. Immaculately decorated and spotlessly clean on arrival. It has all solid wood furniture in the bedrooms, smart bathroom and shower rooms as well as a great kitchen/living room with a breakfast bar our boys loved. Our hosts were friendly and accommodating but respected our privacy and there were some very nice touches like the welcome basket others have mentioned and an offer of freshly laundered towels midweek to replace the ones provided. Overall we couldn't have been happier with this lovely accommodation. NB. One tip for those who like to get shopping delivered for their holiday. On most supermarket internet shopping sites it comes up as 'New House' rather than Woodpecker lodge for delivery address.
16 Aug 2014 5/5 "Excellent accommodation"
Took my grandchildren, 7 & 10. Lots to do and see, particularly Davenports magic museum and Bewilderwood. Excellent accommodation, lots of space with enclosed garden and parking within the grounds. All amenities within the house and a welcome basket with lots of yummy goodies I was lucky to book this new property, I think vacancies will be limited in the future.
13 Aug 2014 5/5 "Wonderful home from home!"
Have just returned from a fantastic weeks stay at Woodpecker Lodge. The owner Martin & his wife were very welcoming & helpful. The welcome basket, wine & fresh flowers were a lovely touch. The Lodge itself has been built to a very high standard. The rooms are beautifully decorated & very spacious. The beds & pillows were very comfortable & we had everything we needed to make our stay perfect. I would highly recommend this holiday house to all ages - we were a party of four generations & couldn't have asked for more!
3 Aug 2014 5/5 "Fantastic"

4 Jun 2014 5/5 "Beautiful well equipped house, great location, could not fault it"
We stayed at Woodpecker Lodge with our two children, another couple and their baby. Martin the owner was very friendly and helpful and made sure we had everything we needed. When we arrived we were delighted to find a brand new house that has clearly been finished to a high spec (we were only the third set of people to stay in it), everything was spotlessly clean, brand new and modern. It was perfectly set up for adults or children and very spacious - the kids loved it. We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend away and would definitely recommend it, we have friends that live in Norwich so it is an ideal place for us to stay. The welcome basket with some delicious supplies was very much appreciated too!! Without a doubt it meets 5* standards.
1 Jun 2014 5/5 "A wonderful property - the photos do not do it justice"
We stayed here with our 3 daughters for a short break and we were all very impressed. The rooms are spacious, finished to a very high standard and there is a real attention to detail everywhere you look (our twin daughters loved the skylights in their room). We really appreciated our welcome basket after a long journey and found the owner, Martin very friendly and helpful. We would stay again at Woodpecker Lodge at a future point and recommend it to anyone looking for comfort and modern amenities within a peaceful location but with ease of access to Norwich, Great Yarmouth or the Broads.
1 Jun 2014 5/5 "Fantastic stay at Woodpecker Lodge"
In May 2014 my family spent 3 nights at Woodpecker Lodge and we simply loved it. The rooms and bathrooms were awesome and the kitchen was well equipped. The welcome pack was also a lovely surprise. Thanks for a great stay!
16th April 2014 "Just Perfect"
Wonderful peaceful stay in the Norfolk countryside, close to the broads & the coast. Welcome pack on arrival was a lovely touch, & the bottle of wine went down very nicely while we enjoyed the views. Martin, the owner, was very helpful & friendly with a good knowledge of the surrounding area. The property itself is newly built & the interior is very nicely decorated. The rooms are warm, light, airy & spacious & we felt very much at home. A very enjoyable stay & we will return again.
24th March 2014 A lovely place to stay, a great getaway and close to Norfolk Broads and Beaches."

9 Apr 2014 5/5 "a welcome escape from a busy life"
Perfectly located in a very quiet area for visiting the north norfolk coast. A wonderful spacious and clean property with all the facilities we required. Owners could not have been more helpful. I would recommend this to anybody wanting an escape for a weeks break.
Norfolk has something for all ages and interests, historic buildings, wildlife parks, military museums or working steam railways. An action packed day out for the kids, be it wet or dry, is assured in Norfolk's theme attractions. Fascinating experiences are offered at crafts centres and stately homes.
