About St Benet's Abbey

Visitors to St Benet’s Abbey leave the bustle of everyday life behind
When possible, try to arrive as the monks, pilgrims and traders of old would have done, by boat or on foot.

No Facilities
There is a limited mobile phone signal at St Benet's and the nearest public toilets are a 30 minute walk away, at Ludham Bridge. The closest cafes, pubs and shops are there or in Ludham village.

The area between the gatehouse, the moorings and the car park is fully accessible, elsewhere the ground is uneven. The Abbey is part of a working farm and livestock may be on site. Dogs should be kept on a lead. Before setting off think about:

• Suitable footwear and clothing
• Something to drink and a snack
• A local map and perhaps binoculars

Audio Tours
You can also download a history audio tour or a nature audio tour to accompany you on your visit. If possible we suggest doing this to a mobile phone or mp3 player in advance of your visit, since reception can be patchy at St Benet's.
